Through hands-on art workshops and our signature exhibition hosted during Lubbock’s First Friday Art Trail, we invite over 20 regional high schools to showcase student artwork and compete for program donations that directly enrich local special education and art classrooms.

Our Story
Unspoken Beauty through Art
In Lubbock, Texas, a single drawing spoke what words could not.
Sarai, lives with level-three autism. Though limited in words, her artwork revealed a vibrant inner world- and sparked the vision for Beautiful Mind on Fire. What began as a desire to share her story, quickly uncovered a whole community of families longing for their children’s unique expressions to be seen and celebrated.
Out of that shared need, BMOF Art Competitions was born.
For students in special education, art is not just a pastime or hobby- it is a vital bridge to deep emotion and connection to the world around them. By bringing these creations to light, we give space to celebrate unique perspectives while advancing neurodiversity and disability inclusion, acceptance and awareness

BMOF ART COMPETITIONS is a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to empowering neurodivergent and disabled youth through creative expression, inclusive art competitions, and community awareness.

BMOF ART COMPETITIONS offers a bi-annual art competition held at the First Friday Art Trail during the fall and spring. Participating schools have the opportunity to showcase 2 pieces of artwork created by students enrolled in their Special Education Program.
Any High School student receiving Special Education who is currently enrolled in public, private and homeschooled classes in Lubbock, Texas and the surrounding cities within a 30 mile radius
The artwork must be painted, drawn or colored primarily by the individual enrolled in special education with minimal assistance. Art piece must be two-dimensional and not exceed 11x14 inches.
Submit a picture of the artwork to bmofcompetitions@gmail.com
Submit entries by October 30, 2026 to join the fall competition on Friday, November 6, 2026. Submit entries by April 30, 2027 to join our spring competition on May 7, 2027.
Each participating school will present their two chosen art pieces. The artwork will be displayed at the First Friday Art Trail ( F.F.A.T.) in Lubbock, Texas. Attendees can place their vote by visiting the art display . The Art piece with the most votes will win and become The People’s Choice winner.
