At BMOF ART COMPETITIONS, our mission is to celebrate and amplify the voices of high school students receiving special education services in our community and create neurodiversity and disability awareness through art competitions.

At BMOF ART COMPETITIONS, we empower these young artists by providing them with a platform to showcase their talents. We believe in nurturing creativity and fostering artistic expression. Giving back to the High School Special Education Art Program and giving recognition to the winning artist and their helper.

Our Program
High School Special Education Students in Lubbock, Texas, and its surrounding community will have the opportunity during the fall and spring to display their artwork during the First Friday Art Trail. These pieces will be voted on by the public.
The winning artist will have their exceptional work celebrated. Additionally, their school will receive a donation to support its educational initiatives.

Our Story
Unspoken Beauty through Art
In Lubbock, Texas, a single drawing spoke what words could not.
Our daughter, Sarai, lives with level-three autism. Though limited in words, her artwork revealed a vibrant inner world- and sparked the vision for Beautiful Mind on Fire. What began as a desire to share her story quickly uncovered a whole community of families longing for their children’s unique expressions to be seen and celebrated.
Out of that shared need, BMOF Art Competitions was born.
For students in special education, art is not just a pastime or hobby- it is a vital bridge to deep emotion and connection to the world around them. By bringing these creation to light, we give space to perspectives that often go unheard.

BMOF ART COMPETITIONS offers a bi-annually art competition held at the First Friday Art Trail during the fall and spring. Participating schools have the opportunity to showcase 2 pieces of artwork created by students enrolled in their Special Education Program.
Any High School student receiving Special Education who is currently enrolled in public, private and homeschooled classes in Lubbock, Texas and the surrounding cities within a 30 mile radius
The artwork must be painted, drawn or colored primarily by the special needs individual with minimal assistance. Art piece must be two-dimensional and not exceed 11x14 inches.

Each participating school will present their two chosen art pieces. The artwork will be displayed at the First Friday Art Trail ( F.F.A.T.) in Lubbock, Texas. Individuals can place their vote by visiting the art display in person . The Art piece with the most votes will win.
